NPG has two hydroxyl groups located in the 1,3-position on the primary carbon atom. Additionally, it has two methyl groups instead of the usual two hydrogen atoms on the α-carbon atom. Its unique structure is responsible for allowing rapid esterification, high chemical and thermal stability of NPG as well as high crystallinity and weatherability.
