Paraxylene is a hydrocarbon aromatic compound which is produced from the aromatication process of the heavy naphtha at a platformer unit and then separated to produce benzene with extraction and paraxylene with absorption.
Paraxylene is used as material for producing PTA. Paraxylene is produced by PERTAMINA抯 Paraxylene Refinery at Processing Unit IV Cilacap.

Paraxylene Refinery Plant :
Paraxylene refinery Cilacap was contructed in 1988 and began operation after its inauguration by the President on December 20, 1990.
Total capacity of this refinery is 590.000 tons/year with the range of production: paraxylene, benzene, LPG, raffinate, heavy aromate and fuel gas/excess.
Paraxylene product is the raw materials for Plaju Aromatic Center and for export.
