It exists in two forms: oxidized and reduced. The oxidized form appears deep red in aqueous solution, while the reduced form appears pink.

Usage: Biochemical research. It is a very important electron carrier in biological oxidation. The reduced form participates in receiving protons released from hydrogen, while the oxidized form participates in transferring electrons to oxygen, thereby promoting the combination of hydrogen and oxygen.
