Appearance: White or off-white crystalline powder. Extracted from salmon, soluble in hot water, ammonia water, and dilute acids; sparingly soluble in water and ethanol; insoluble in chloroform.

Usage: Biochemical research. It is a low molecular weight protein with strong alkalinity and carries a strong positive charge. It can form a stable complex with the strongly acidic heparin through ionic bonds, thereby neutralizing heparin's anticoagulant activity (heparin is a sulfated mucopolysaccharide with strong acidity and negative charge; its anticoagulant effect is related to its negative charge).
