Coal tar

Phenolic compounds in medium and low temperature coal tar are primarily composed of lower phenols, which can be extracted using chemical extraction methods as chemical raw materials. The fraction after extracting lower phenols will serve as feedstock for hydrogenation to produce high-cetane diesel.

Medium and low temperature coal tar can be hydrogenated to produce automotive engine fuels such as diesel and gasoline, as well as chemicals.

Hydrogenation of high-temperature coal tar to produce fuel oil is more challenging than that of medium and low temperature coal tar. According to traditional processing methods, various chemical products can be separated from the fractions of high-temperature coal tar through further processing. The extracted products and their applications include coatings, waterproofing agents, paints, etc.
