Myrtle (scientific name: Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), also known as: Duoni, Gangren, Shanren, Duolian, Dangli Root, Renzi Tree, Doren, Zhongni, Wuduzi, Taijiuniang, Dangni, English name: myrtle.

A shrub of the Myrtaceae family, Myrtle genus, can reach up to 2 meters in height; leaves are opposite, leathery, elliptical or obovate in shape, flowers usually solitary, purplish-red, calyx tube obovate, calyx lobes nearly circular, petals obovate, stamens red, berries ovate-urn shaped, turning purplish-black when ripe; flowering period from April to May. In summer, the flowers bloom in vibrant colors, brilliant like rosy clouds, bearing fruit while flowering. Ripe fruits are edible and can also be used to make wine, serving as a natural food source for birds.
