Silicone gel is a special type of RTV-2 (room temperature vulcanizing two-component) silicone rubber characterized by extremely low crosslink density, used to produce very soft vulcanizates with a Shore A hardness below the standard range. Silicone gel is often used as a damping material in the medical field and as an encapsulating material in electrical and electronic applications.
