Main Uses of Methyl Methacrylate
Organic Glass Manufacturing: It is a monomer used to produce transparent plastic polymethyl methacrylate (organic glass, PMMA), widely used in fields such as construction, automotive, electronics, and optics, such as skylights in buildings, windshields and taillights in automobiles, and display screen protectors for electronic devices.
Coatings and Adhesives: It can be directly used to manufacture coatings and adhesives, possessing excellent adhesion and weather resistance, used for surface coating and bonding of materials such as metals, wood, and plastics.
Resin and Plastic Production: Used to manufacture other types of resins and plastics, such as acrylic resins and acrylate copolymers; these materials can be used to produce lubricants, impregnating agents for wood and cork, and paper glazing agents.
Other Fields: It can also be used to manufacture motor coil impregnating agents, ion exchange resins, textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries, leather treatment agents, and insulating potting materials, as well as for the production of methyl methacrylate-butadiene-styrene copolymer (MBS), used as a modifier for PVC.
