Methyl tert-butyl ether
Other Products
Main Uses
Gasoline Additive (Core Application):
As a high-octane additive, it significantly increases the octane number of gasoline (Research Octane Number RON approx. 117), improves the anti-knock performance of gasoline, and reduces engine knocking.
Replaces tetraethyl lead (toxic) as an environmentally friendly anti-knock agent, and has been one of the main gasoline additives globally since the 1980s.
Increases the oxygen content of gasoline (oxygen content approx. 18%), promotes more complete combustion, and reduces carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions.
Organic Solvent:
Used in industries such as coatings, inks, and adhesives as a solvent or co-solvent, featuring strong dissolving power and fast volatility. Used in extraction processes to separate organic compounds (e.g., extracting phenols and esters from water).
Chemical Intermediate:
Can generate isobutylene (an important chemical raw material used to produce butyl rubber, polyisobutylene, etc.) through cracking reactions. Used to synthesize tert-butyl ether derivatives or fine chemicals.
