Diethyl methylmalonate
Other Products
Main Uses
Organic Synthesis Intermediate:
Used for the synthesis of branched-chain carboxylic acids, fatty acids, amino acids (such as valine), etc. Carbon chains with specific structures can be constructed through steps such as alkylation, hydrolysis, and decarboxylation.
As a precursor for cyclic compounds, for example, synthesizing cycloalkane derivatives (such as cyclopropane, cyclobutane carboxylate esters) via intramolecular alkylation reactions.
Used for the preparation of pharmaceutical intermediates, such as in the synthesis of certain antibiotics, antiepileptic drugs, and sedatives, where required substituents are introduced through the reaction of its active methylene group.
Pharmaceutical Field:
Its derivatives can serve as enzyme inhibitors or drug precursors, for example, used in the synthesis of drugs for treating metabolic diseases.
Other Applications:
Used for the preparation of intermediates for fragrances and dyes, or as monomers for polymer materials (introducing ester structures via polymerization reactions).
