Application Fields

Surfactants

As a raw material for cationic surfactants, used in the preparation of softeners and antistatic agents (e.g., softening treatment for textiles and paper, reducing static accumulation).

Used as a mineral flotation agent; by adsorbing onto the mineral surface, it alters hydrophobicity to achieve the separation of minerals from impurities.

Lubricants and Rust Inhibitors

Can serve as a lubricant additive in metalworking to improve lubrication performance; its hydrochloride or other derivatives can act as metal rust inhibitors, forming a protective film to prevent corrosion.

Organic Synthesis Intermediates

Used in the synthesis of quaternary ammonium salts (e.g., octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride, widely used in bactericides and emulsifiers) and amide compounds (e.g., stearamide, a plastic lubricant).

In the pharmaceutical field, it can serve as a carrier or intermediate for certain drugs, utilizing the lipophilicity of its long-chain alkyl group to improve drug delivery.

Other Uses

Used as an asphalt emulsifier to promote the emulsification of asphalt and water, facilitating road construction;

As a pigment dispersant, improving the dispersion stability of pigments in coatings and inks.
