Triethylenetetramine
Other Products
Main Uses
Epoxy Resin Curing Agent:
It is an important room-temperature or medium-temperature curing agent that crosslinks and cures the resin through the ring-opening reaction of amino groups with epoxy groups. Compared to triethylenetetramine, it has a longer molecular chain, resulting in better flexibility of the cured resin and higher impact strength. It has a slightly longer pot life (approximately 40-80 minutes) and is commonly used in coatings, adhesives, and composite materials, making it particularly suitable for scenarios requiring flexibility (such as fiberglass products and pipeline anti-corrosion layers).
Chelating Agent and Metal Treatment:
Utilizing its strong chelating properties, it can extract heavy metal ions (such as copper, lead, mercury) and is used in industrial wastewater treatment or precious metal recovery.
In the electroplating industry, it serves as an additive to improve the uniformity and gloss of the coating, and to enhance the adhesion between the coating and the substrate.
As a water treatment agent, it chelates metal ions such as calcium and magnesium in water to prevent scaling, or disperses impurities like rust and sludge.
Organic Synthesis Intermediate:
Used to synthesize high-temperature resistant polymer materials such as polyamide resins and polyimide resins, which are used as insulating or structural materials in aerospace and electronic components.
Synthesizes cationic surfactants used in detergents, emulsifiers, or as softeners and antistatic agents in the textile industry.
Prepares corrosion inhibitors by forming a protective film through adsorption on metal surfaces, used for anti-corrosion in equipment such as oil pipelines and boilers.
Other Applications:
Acts as a catalyst in polyurethane synthesis to promote the reaction between isocyanates and polyols, regulating the foam curing speed.
Serves as a gas purifying agent to absorb acidic gases like hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from natural gas and syngas (by reacting amino groups with acidic gases to form salts).
Used to prepare lubricant additives to improve the oxidation resistance and dispersancy of oil products.
