Dimethyl carbonate
Other Products
Main Applications
Lithium-ion battery electrolyte solvent:
It is one of the core solvents for power battery electrolytes, featuring a high dielectric constant, good ionic conductivity, and chemical stability. It can be combined with other solvents (such as ethylene carbonate and ethyl methyl carbonate) to enhance the low-temperature performance and safety of the electrolyte.
Organic synthesis intermediate:
It substitutes highly toxic reagents like dimethyl sulfate and phosgene for methylation and carbonylation reactions, used in the production of pharmaceuticals (e.g., antibiotics), pesticides (e.g., insecticides), and dyes.
Used for synthesizing polymer materials such as polycarbonates and polyurethanes.
Fuel additive:
It can be used as an additive for gasoline and diesel to increase the oxygen content of the fuel (oxygen content 53.3%), promote complete combustion, and reduce CO and hydrocarbon emissions. It also possesses anti-knock properties and can replace methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE).
Solvent and cleaning agent:
Due to its strong solvency and low toxicity, it is used as a solvent for coatings and adhesives, as well as a precision cleaning agent in the electronics industry (e.g., for cleaning chips and circuit boards).
