Main Uses

Solvent Applications:

It is a highly efficient polar aprotic solvent widely used in organic synthesis reactions (such as Grignard reactions, coupling reactions) and as a mobile phase in chromatographic analysis (especially High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, HPLC), due to its good solubility for many organic and inorganic substances. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a reaction medium and purification solvent for drug synthesis, such as in the production of antibiotics and vitamins.

Chemical Synthesis Raw Material:

Used to prepare the intermediates ethylamine, acetyl cyanide, and diethyl malonate, which are further used to synthesize pharmaceuticals, pesticides (such as herbicides, insecticides), and dyes.

As a component of electroplating solutions, it is used in metal electroplating processes (such as for copper) to improve the quality of the coating.

Other Fields:

Used as an electrolyte solvent in lithium batteries, often mixed with carbonates to improve the conductivity and stability of the electrolyte. Used in extraction and separation processes, such as extracting aromatic hydrocarbons from petroleum fractions or recovering organic substances from wastewater.
