Application Fields
Thanks to its alkalinity and reactivity, cyclohexylamine plays an irreplaceable role in multiple industrial fields:
1. Rubber Industry (Largest Application Field)
As a raw material for rubber accelerators: It is used to synthesize accelerators such as CBS (N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide) and TBBS (N-tert-butyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide). These can shorten rubber vulcanization time and improve the strength and elasticity of rubber products, and are widely used in automotive tires, seals, etc.
Directly used as a rubber antioxidant: It inhibits aging caused by oxidation and ozone, extending the service life of products.
2. Water Treatment Field
As a high-efficiency corrosion inhibitor: Cyclohexylamine easily reacts with metal ions in water (such as Fe²⁺, Cu²⁺) to form a dense protective film on metal surfaces, preventing corrosion of steel, copper, and other equipment in acidic or neutral water. It is often used in boiler water and cooling water treatment systems.
It can be compounded with other corrosion inhibitors (such as morpholine, piperazine) to improve corrosion inhibition efficiency and reduce costs.
3. Pharmaceutical Field
As a pharmaceutical intermediate: It is used to synthesize antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine hydrochloride), local anesthetics (e.g., dyclonine hydrochloride), antibiotics (e.g., cephalosporin drugs), etc. The reactivity of the amino group allows for the precise introduction of pharmacophores.
Intermediate for the synthesis of Vitamin B₁: The cyclic structural unit of Vitamin B₁ is constructed through the reaction of cyclohexylamine with specific carboxylic acids.
4. Pesticide Field
Synthesis of insecticides and herbicides: For example, cyclohexylamine reacts with phosphates to generate organophosphorus insecticides, or reacts with carboxylic acid derivatives to generate herbicides (such as cyclohexylamine salt herbicides, used to control weeds in wheat fields).
As a pesticide stabilizer: It improves the storage stability of pesticide formulations and reduces the decomposition of active ingredients.
5. Other Fields
Surfactants: Used to synthesize cationic surfactants (such as cyclohexylamine hydrochloride), which serve as softeners and antistatic agents in textile printing and dyeing.
Dye Industry: Used as a coupling component to synthesize acid dyes and disperse dyes for dyeing wool and silk.
Resin curing agent: It reacts with epoxy resins to prepare cured resins resistant to high temperatures and chemical corrosion, applied in coatings and adhesives.
