Diethanolamine

　　Main Applications

　　Surfactants and Daily Chemical Industry

　　Reacts with fatty acids to generate alkanolamides (such as lauric acid diethanolamide), which have excellent emulsifying, foam stabilizing, and thickening effects. They are important raw materials for detergents, shampoos, body washes, and other products, capable of enhancing detergency and reducing skin irritation.

　　Used as a pH regulator and humectant in cosmetics to improve product stability.

　　Gas Purification

　　As an acid gas absorbent, it can absorb H₂S, CO₂, etc., from natural gas and syngas, reacting to form stable salts (such as reacting with H₂S to form (HOCH₂CH₂)₂NH・HS). Heating releases the gas to achieve regeneration, making it suitable for small and medium-sized desulfurization and decarbonization units (efficiency is slightly lower than monoethanolamine, but corrosiveness is lower).

　　Pharmaceutical and Pesticide Intermediates

　　Used in the synthesis of local anesthetics, antihistamines, etc.; in pesticides, it can prepare intermediates for insecticides and herbicides, such as carbamate compounds.

　　Textile and Dyeing

　　Acts as a softener and color fixative, improving the softness and color fastness of fibers; also used for anti-static treatment of fabrics and the synthesis of dyeing auxiliaries.

　　Other Fields

　　Used as a corrosion inhibitor in metalworking to reduce metal corrosion in cutting fluids and coolants;

　　Acts as a catalyst for polyurethane foam, promoting the cross-linking reaction between isocyanates and polyols;

　　Used in the synthesis of lubricating oil additives to improve the oxidation resistance and anti-rust properties of the oil.
