1,4-Butanediol

　　Main Uses:

　　Synthetic Polymers: It is an important monomer for the production of the high-performance plastic polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), and is also used in the production of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and other copolymers.

　　Solvent: Due to its good solubility, it is used as a solvent for various resins, coatings, dyes, and paints.

　　Intermediate: It is the primary raw material for the production of tetrahydrofuran (THF), which is itself an important intermediate for the synthesis of elastomers and solvents. Polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), obtained after polymerization, is the basic raw material for the production of highly elastic spandex (Lycra fiber).

　　Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics: It can be used in the production of drugs such as Vitamin B6 and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), as well as applied in cosmetics as a humectant and lubricant.

　　Others: It can also be used to prepare N-methylpyrrolidone, N-vinylpyrrolidone, and other pyrrolidone derivatives, as well as pesticides, herbicides, plasticizers, lubricants, humectants, softeners, adhesives, and brighteners for the electroplating industry.
