　　Main Uses

　　Polymerization Monomer

　　Copolymerized with olefins such as ethylene as a comonomer, it can improve the flexibility, impact resistance, and processability of polyethylene. The resulting linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) is widely used in films, pipes, and other fields.

　　Self-polymerization can produce polyoctene, which is used as an elastomer material in seals, hoses, etc.

　　Chemical Intermediate

　　Octanol is produced through a hydration reaction (addition of 1-octene and water under the action of a catalyst). Octanol is an important raw material for the production of plasticizers (such as dioctyl phthalate), surfactants, and lubricants.

　　Octenal, octenoic acid, etc., can be produced through oxidation reactions and used for synthesizing fragrances and detergent intermediates.

　　Other Applications

　　Used as a solvent in organic synthesis reactions, coatings, and the ink industry.

　　Used to prepare synthetic lubricant base oils (such as polyalpha-olefins). The polymers generated through oligomerization reactions possess good low-temperature fluidity and oxidation resistance, making them suitable for precision mechanical lubrication.
