Organic Synthesis Intermediate

Used to prepare ester compounds (such as amyl acetate, amyl butyrate); these esters are important solvents and fragrances (possessing fruity aromas, used in food and cosmetic fragrances);

Through halogenation reactions, it generates 1-chloropentane, etc., serving as an alkylation reagent for the synthesis of pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates;

Via oxidation reactions, it produces n-pentanal or n-pentanoic acid, which are further used in the synthesis of plasticizers and surfactants.

Solvent and Extractant

As a medium-boiling polar solvent, it is used in coatings, inks, adhesives, etc., to dissolve resins, oils, and other substances;
