Main Applications

Organic Synthesis Intermediates:

Reduced to generate 1,5-pentanediamine, used for synthesizing polyamides (such as Nylon-55, Nylon-510); these materials possess good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

Hydrolyzed to generate glutaric acid, which is an important raw material for synthesizing polyesters, plasticizers, and lubricants, and is also used as a pharmaceutical intermediate (e.g., for synthesizing antiepileptic drugs).

Polymer Monomers: Participate in copolymerization reactions for the preparation of functional polymer materials (such as solvent-resistant coatings, ion exchange resins).

Solvents and Extractants: Due to its high boiling point and moderate polarity, it can serve as a solvent for high-temperature reactions or be used for the extraction and separation of metal ions (e.g., the extraction of certain precious metals).

Others: Used in the electronics industry for preparing electrolyte additives; in the pharmaceutical field as an intermediate for synthesizing heterocyclic drugs (such as piperidine derivatives).
