Main Uses

As a precursor for cyclic compounds, for example, synthesizing cycloalkane derivatives (such as cyclopropane, cyclobutane carboxylate esters) via intramolecular alkylation reactions.

Used for preparing pharmaceutical intermediates; for instance, in the synthesis of certain antibiotics, antiepileptic drugs, and sedatives, required substituents are introduced through the reaction of its active methylene group.
