Main Uses

Organic Synthesis Intermediate:

Used for synthesizing fine chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and fragrances. For example:

An intermediate for the synthesis of the anti-anxiety drug Buspirone and the antibacterial drug Ciprofloxacin;

A key raw material for preparing insecticides and herbicides (such as cyclopentenone-based insecticides).

As a precursor for cyclopentane derivatives, it generates complex molecules containing five-membered rings (such as analogs of steroid compounds) through addition, condensation, and other reactions.

Fragrance and Flavor Industry:

Possessing a mint-like aroma itself, it can be used directly in compounding fragrances, or as a raw material for synthesizing other fragrances (such as cyclopentyl propionate), used for flavoring in food, cosmetics, and detergents.

Solvents and Auxiliaries:

Due to its good solubility for various organic substances, it can be used as a solvent in industries such as coatings, adhesives, and inks, and is particularly suitable for systems requiring medium-boiling-point solvents.

Materials Field:

Used for synthesizing cyclopentanone resin (a thermosetting resin), or participating in polymerization reactions as a comonomer to improve the chemical resistance and mechanical properties of materials.

Used as a reference substance or solvent in organic analysis;

Used for preparing rubber vulcanization accelerators, dye intermediates, etc.
