The Soriana sofa was born in the late 1960s, became a hit after winning the Compasso d'Oro award in 1970, then was sidelined by the market due to the influence of minimalist style and was discontinued in 1982, making a grand comeback in 2021, thirty years later.
It "might be" the second-best product of Italy in the 1970s. It was launched for the brand Cassina in 1969 by Italian designers Afra Scarpa and Tobia Scarpa.
With soft external lines, it is composed of a chrome-plated metal frame that encloses the seat cushion and fabric, which was a very avant-garde and revolutionary design at that time. Due to this unique structural shape, it is commonly known as the "Big Steel Tooth".
