Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device
I. Overview
Bird damage is a major disturbance to the normal operation of substations. Since the construction of the first substation, power grid staff have been carrying out bird damage prevention work in full swing. The methods have changed from manually removing bird nests and installing bird spikes at the beginning to the bird repellents that are widely used nowadays. However, power grid departments have found that these methods only work in the early stage of bird damage, and the bird repelling effect is greatly reduced after birds adapt to them. In view of this situation, Telcom has developed the Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device to repel birds around the substation, which can effectively drive away birds without harming them.
II. Working Principle
Starting from the instinct of organisms to seek advantages and avoid disadvantages, the Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device uses green laser with a wavelength of 520nm. Birds regard this frequency band of laser as a dangerous signal. Once irradiated, birds will immediately fly away from the area and will not choose to活动 around the substation for a long time, so the bird repelling effect is very good. The portable design can target the areas where the substation is severely affected by bird damage to repel birds, avoiding "idle operation" of equipment. The built-in photosensitive module enables the Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device to automatically adjust the laser power, preventing device aging caused by long-term high-power operation and extending its service life.
III. Product Technical Parameters
1. Laser: 520nm
2. Laser power: 500Mw/1W/2W
3. Linear angle: 5°
4. Horizontal rotation angle: 0~350°
5. Vertical rotation angle: ±35°
6. Time control: Hour/Week
IV. Postscript
Due to the relatively remote location of substations, the environment is very suitable for bird activities. In addition, there are many steel structures in the substation. Compared with tree branches that are easily affected by wind and rain, steel structures are obviously better choices for birds to build nests. However, debris such as iron wires and electric wires used for nesting falling into the substation can easily cause short-circuit faults. If birds around the substation cannot be driven away in time, it will be very detrimental to the normal operation of the substation. Once the Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device was successfully developed, it immediately cooperated with power grid departments in Hubei, Shaanxi and other regions, replacing the original bird spike equipment in substations. On the day of installation, the bird damage problem was significantly improved. Moreover, in the later use result surveys, it was found that the Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device would not cause birds to adapt to it, and the bird repelling effect remained as outstanding as ever.
V. Product Advantages
The Multi-point Scanning Laser Bird Repellent Device can adjust its laser power according to the external ambient light intensity, and will stop operation at night to reduce the loss rate of the laser.
