The GN38 series are high-voltage disconnectors rated for 12kV and intended for indoor use, specially designed for compact fixed switchgear / ring main units. They feature a three-position (close - open - earth) structure and comprehensive mechanical interlocking functions.
Model Analysis: G (disconnector) + N (indoor) + 38 (design serial number) + 12 (rated voltage 12kV) + D (with earthing switch, no D means two-position without earthing); the common rated currents are 630A, 1000A, 1250A.
Main Technical Specifications: Rated frequency 50Hz; 4s thermal stable current 25~31.5kA; dynamic stable current 63~80kA; power frequency withstand voltage (ground / break gap) 42kV/48kV, lightning impulse withstand voltage 75kV/85kV.
Structural Features: Adopts one-piece insulated busbar through-wall base (APG process), with a creepage distance of 24mm/kV; single-break design to ensure "cannot earth when closing, cannot close when earthing"; equipped with coaxial or non-coaxial manual operating mechanism and position positioning device.
Application: Connect or cut off the circuit under the condition of voltage without load, to realize electrical isolation and maintenance earthing station status: GN38-12 is two-position (close / open); GN38-12D is three-position (close / open / earth), the cabinet door can be opened for maintenance when the earthing switch is closed.
Anti-misoperation Interlocking: Equipped with mechanical interlocking function - the disconnector cannot be operated when the circuit breaker is closed; isolation;Environmental Conditions: Altitude ≤1000m (some materials mark 2000m), ambient temperature -25℃~+40℃, daily average relative humidity ≤95%; no severe vibration, corrosive or explosive dangerous places.
Installation Method: Can be installed horizontally in positive or inverted position, the installation height of the operating mechanism is usually 1~1.3m from the ground; the insulation distance between live parts and ground is not less than 125mm.
Operation Notes: It is strictly forbidden to open or close under load; before maintenance, it must be confirmed that the circuit has no power and the earthing switch has been closed; regular maintenance is required (at least once a year).
