Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., headquartered in Nutley, N.J., is the U.S. prescription drug unit of the Roche Group, a leading international health care company with principal businesses in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. The company is active in more than 150 countries and employs approximately 65,000 people worldwide. In 2003, Roche worldwide sales were approximately 29 billion Swiss francs (about $23.4 billion), with global pharmaceuticals sales accounting for about 70 percent of that total.
