Huajian Company's Lighter Quality Inspection and Testing Standards

I. Appearance Inspection
1. Casing: MI
Visually inspect at a distance of 30 cm to check if the casing is deformed; whether the electroplating (spray painting) surface treatment has scratches, stains, sand grains, bubbles, rust, impurities, cracks, or other defects. If any of these are present, the diameter must not exceed 1mm, and no more than 3 points may appear on each independent surface. Exceeding this is considered defective;
2. Color Difference: MA
The external color of the lighter must be uniform and consistent, with no color difference;
3. Trademark Printing: MA
Trademark printing must be clear and aesthetically pleasing, and the printing durability must pass three consecutive tape peel tests;
4. Body: MI
Visually inspect at a distance of 30 cm to check if the overall proportions are harmonious and aesthetically pleasing. Flat-bottomed finished products must be able to stand upright on a table without falling over, and there must be no burrs or sharp edges;
5. Screws: MI
The screws at the bottom of the lighter must be flat, not protruding above the bottom casing plane, smooth to the touch, and absolutely free from cracks, rust, or sharp edges;
6. Gas Intake and Adjustment Rod: MI
The gas intake and adjustment rod must be centered in the adjustment hole without deviation. The adjustment rod must not be too tight (using a screwdriver or other adjustment tool, the rod should be slightly tight);
7. Head Cover and Casing Connection: MI
The lighter head cover, middle frame, and casing must fit tightly. The head cover must not be misaligned, and the maximum gap at the casing connection must not exceed 5-8 threads;
8. Product Completeness: CR
Compared to the confirmed sample, there must be no missing parts;
9. Dimensions and Weight: MA
Must be consistent with the confirmed sample;
10. Decorative Attachments: MI
Patterns and designs must be clear and aesthetically pleasing, firmly adhered to the body without looseness or obvious gaps;
11. Commercial Markings: CR
The lighter must be permanently engraved or printed with the customer’s logo (trademark or company name);
12. Products with standing functionality must be able to stand steadily. MI
13. All products, inner packaging, outer packaging, instructions, or other attachments must not display any Chinese characters in engraving or printing. CR


II. Performance Inspection
1. Flame (Before flame testing, the lighter should be placed in an environment of 23±2°C for at least 10 hours to maintain constant temperature)
① Automatic Extinguishing Defect: MA
With the lighter in a vertical upward position, adjust the flame to the maximum and ignite for 5 seconds, then release the switch. The flame must automatically extinguish within 2 seconds;
② Flame Direction Defect: MA
With the lighter in a vertical upward position, the flame should be vertical. A flame angle deviating more than 15% from the vertical direction is considered defective;
③ Flame Extension Defect: MA
After igniting for 5 seconds, a flame height increase of more than 3cm is considered defective;
④ Flame Lift Defect: When the flame is adjusted to the maximum position, if the base of the flame detaches from the ignition port within 2cm and remains unstable, it is considered defective; MA
⑤ Flame Flicker Defect: MA
With the lighter in a vertical upward position and the flame adjusted to the maximum, ignite continuously for 5 seconds. For open-flame lighters, a flame height variation exceeding 3cm is defective; for torch and windproof lighters, a variation exceeding 1cm is defective;
⑥ Flame Scatter Defect
At any flame height, there must be no flame scatter. CR
⑦ Flame Spurt Defect: CR
With the lighter in a vertical upward position and the flame adjustment device at the maximum position, if unburned gas escapes in liquid form, it is considered defective;
⑧ Flame Height Limits:
a. Open-Flame Lighters
1. The initial flame height must not exceed 8cm and must not be less than 2cm, CR
2. When the flame is adjusted to the maximum position, the flame height must not exceed 10cm, CR, but must not be lower than 3cm, MA
3. When the flame is adjusted to the minimum position, the flame height must not exceed 3cm; extinguishing is allowed, MI
b. Windproof and Torch Lighters
1. The initial flame height must not exceed 5cm and must not be less than 1cm, MA
2. When the flame is adjusted to the maximum position, the flame height must not exceed 7.5cm, CR, but must not be lower than 1.5cm, MA
3. When the flame is adjusted to the minimum position, the flame height must not exceed 2cm; extinguishing is allowed; MI
⑦ Intermittent Ignition Defect: For every 10 ignition attempts, if the lighter ignites fewer than 7 times, it is defective. MI
2. Flame Positioning Device: Lack of a positioning device is defective. CR
3. Gas Pressure Requirements:
① Must use 3.8MPa butane gas to fill the lighter (pressure test); MA
② Filling must not exceed 85% of the gas tank capacity but must not be less than 80% (visual inspection); MI
③ Refilling Test: CR
After depressurizing the lighter and refilling, failure to intake gas is defective; severe gas leakage preventing effective filling is defective; after refilling, if the initial flame height exceeds 6cm, it is defective.
Minimum flame height must not be less than 2cm, and maximum must not exceed 10cm.
**Filling Method: The lighter’s intake port should face vertically upward, and the gas canister’s outlet should face vertically downward, fully covering the lighter’s intake port. Then press the canister downward continuously to fill.
4. Switch Performance Requirements: MI
When igniting, the switch must not be too tight, stuck, or loose;
5. When the lighter’s flame direction is straight upward, if the user faces the switch and rotates it left, the flame should gradually decrease; if the ignition switch is located at the bottom of the lighter, the user should face the switch and rotate it clockwise to gradually decrease the flame. The adjustment direction may be permanently engraved or printed on the lighter. MA
6. Internal components of the lighter must not show rust, oxidation, or looseness; MI
7. The lighter must not leak electricity during ignition. MA
8. Barcodes on all product inner and outer packaging must be scannable correctly. The barcode numbers displayed on the testing scanner must match the order. CR
III. Safety Inspection
1. Requirements for Lighter Drop Resistance:
After the lighter is dropped freely from a height of 1.5 meters onto a concrete floor, there must be no gas tank failure (CR), spontaneous ignition (CR), gas leakage (MA), flame flicker (CR), or flame spurt (CR). The flame height must not exceed the maximum limit (CR).
After dropping, components must not fall off, the lighter must ignite normally, and flame performance must not significantly differ from before the drop.
2. Requirements for Gas Tank High-Temperature Resistance: MA
Place the entire lighter in 65°C constant temperature hot water for 30 minutes; no bubbles should appear;
3. Filling must not exceed 85% of the gas tank capacity but must not be less than 80%.
4. Requirements for Inverted Burning Resistance: CR
When the flame is adjusted to the maximum, invert the lighter with the gas outlet facing downward at a 45° angle to the horizontal and burn continuously for 10 seconds. Other parts of the lighter must not ignite;
5. Requirements for Continuous Burning: MA
With the lighter vertical and the flame height adjusted to 5-6cm, burn continuously at the maximum position for 1 minute without spontaneous ignition or any hazardous situations;
6. The lighter must not have sharp edges that could cause accidental cuts or scratches during use; CR
7. When adjusting the flame positioning device by hand or screwdriver, it must effectively lock at the maximum and minimum points without slipping; MA
8. The adjustment device must have +/- and directional arrow markings engraved beside it; CR
