Applications of High Purity Krypton
Krypton is a rare gas that is colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and inert. It is concentrated in the atmosphere, accounting for 1.1 ppm. It is mainly used in incandescent bulbs, fluorescent lamps, counting tubes, halogen lamps, meter lamps, high-efficiency fluorescent lamps, laser light sources, ultraviolet sources, standard gases, and special gas mixtures. Krypton has a higher molecular weight and lower thermal conductivity than argon, making it an excellent filling gas. Lamps filled with krypton include incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, flash arc lamps, and iodine lamps. Krypton lamps save 20% to 25% energy compared to argon lamps of the same power and have a lifespan 2 to 3 times longer. On airport runways, flash arc lamps filled with krypton are commonly used for lighting due to their strong ability to penetrate fog. Krypton can absorb X-rays and is used as a shielding material during X-ray work. It can also be used to make atomic lamps that do not require electrical energy. Krypton lamps have particularly high transmittance, making them suitable for use in off-road vehicle lights during night operations.
Precautions for High Purity Krypton
Krypton is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, non-flammable high-pressure gas stored in cylinders. When the krypton concentration increases, causing the oxygen level to drop below 19.5%, it may lead to suffocation. Cylinder-packed krypton is a high-pressure gas and must be减压减压 before use. All cylinders have an expiration date; expired cylinders must be sent to the relevant department for safety inspection before further use.
