Additional Information
Ferric chloride is a covalent inorganic compound with the chemical formula FeCl3. It appears as dark brown crystals, sometimes in flake form, with a melting point of 306°C and a boiling point of 316°C[1]. It is highly soluble in water and exhibits strong hygroscopicity, capable of absorbing moisture from the air and deliquescing. When crystallized from an aqueous solution, FeCl3 incorporates six water molecules, forming FeCl3·6H2O. Hexahydrate ferric chloride is an orange-yellow crystal. Ferric chloride is a very important iron salt.
