GDC-2 High and Low Temperature Test Device

I. Overview

       China's deepwater areas contain abundant oil and gas resources that urgently need development and utilization. However, the backwardness of domestic deepwater drilling fluid technology has become a major bottleneck in deepwater resource development. Unlike onshore and shallow-water regions, the low-temperature environment in deepwater causes increased viscosity of drilling fluids, higher circulation pressure losses, and elevated hydrostatic pressure, making well control more difficult. When static, gelling phenomena are prone to occur, posing significant challenges for deepwater drilling. To provide reasonable low-temperature performance data of drilling fluids for on-site deepwater drilling operations, it is essential to develop a testing device capable of simulating subsea low-temperature conditions for deepwater drilling fluid performance. For this purpose, our company has developed a series of portable drilling fluid testing products suitable for field use, such as viscosity, density, and fluid loss measurements. Among them, the DC-1 low-temperature testing device, paired with the ZNN-D6B rotational viscometer, is extremely simple to operate. By placing the device on the viscometer tray and making minor adjustments, it can test the rheological properties of drilling fluids under low-temperature conditions.. Building on this, the GDC-2 high-low temperature testing device has been developed. This device is suitable for both deep-sea low-temperature testing and onshore high-temperature drilling fluid rheological performance testing. It is compact, aesthetically pleasing, easy to operate, features fast cooling, reliable data display, and is noise-free. The development of this device will fill a gap in domestic single-item testing under low-temperature conditions. It is widely applicable to oilfield drilling teams, laboratories, and research institutions.
