EP-B Lubrication Tester

 I. Overview

       During oilfield drilling, the resistance moment of the wellbore against the friction generated by the rotation of the drill pipe is called torque, while the friction generated during tripping is referred to as drag. To reduce drag and torque and improve lubrication performance, various additives made from different materials are added to the drilling fluid to optimize its lubricity. The lubricity of drilling fluid (i.e., the resistance between the drill string and the wellbore) is a particularly important characteristic in directional drilling. To enhance the lubricity of drilling fluid, lubricity additives must not only ensure a well-gauge borehole but also be non-toxic, biodegradable, and not form oily fine suspensions on the water surface. Evaluating the types, quality, and characteristics of various lubricity additives in drilling fluid cannot be done on-site with drilling rigs. Therefore, a lubricity tester was designed and developed to measure the lubricity of drilling fluid.

       The lubricity tester is used to measure the lubrication quality of drilling fluid, providing data to evaluate the type and quantity of lubricant additives that may be required. It offers accurate and reliable data to ensure fast, safe, and efficient drilling.

Its performance indicators are consistent with the "OFI" lubricity tester from the United States.
