Test Method
Place the vacuum cleaner inside the test chamber as required in Figure 14a. Upright vacuum cleaners without optional hoses should be connected to an additional hose via a nozzle adapter (see Figure 11) and placed on the bracket shown in Figure 14b.
Gaps through which hoses and power cords pass should be carefully sealed with foam rubber or similar material to ensure that gas discharged from the vacuum cleaner exits only through the flue of the test chamber.
The groove of the dust dispenser should be evenly filled with the corresponding amount of test dust, and at the start of the test, the free end of the feed tube should be inserted approximately 100 mm deep into the suction hose from the center.
Before each measurement, the vacuum cleaner should be fitted with a new dust collector and filter. If possible, to establish stable initial conditions in the test chamber, the vacuum cleaner may be operated for 10 minutes with the throttle valve fully open.
With the vacuum cleaner’s throttle valve fully open, the dust dispenser is put in place, and the particle counter is simultaneously started and run for 2 minutes. During the measurement, it should be ensured that the concentration limit of the particle counter is not exceeded.
Air Data Measurement Equipment
Two interchangeable units are provided, each including a power meter and a measurement box. For vacuum cleaners, there should be a vacuum gauge and a throttle device for setting the airflow rate. The equipment used to measure the air data should be specified in the test report.
The measurement box is made of steel plate and can be connected to various types of vacuum cleaners. The inner side of the connection joint is used to connect the suction pipe, hose, or vacuum cleaner connection tube, which should be circular with a diameter of at least 20 mm and resistant to shrinkage and steam deformation.
If air data is measured under other conditions, it should be corrected to standard density air data (see 5.2.8.4). Instruments for measuring temperature and air pressure should be suitable. 20
