Bandwidth
To achieve signal-to-noise ratio performance, select an amplifier with sufficient bandwidth corresponding to the required signal bandwidth. However, note that unnecessarily high bandwidth introduces more broadband noise. Therefore, FEMTO offers three HVA voltage amplifiers with different upper cutoff frequencies to meet various measurement needs. Like all FEMTO variable-gain amplifiers, the bandwidth remains constant when switching between different gain settings, which is crucial for measuring fast signals and pulses.
True DC Coupling with Zero Output Offset
True DC coupling is essential for precise pulse amplification and analysis, especially when dealing with varying pulse lengths (e.g., digital codes or transients lasting from microseconds to milliseconds). If the amplifier uses AC coupling or has a significant output offset that requires decoupling via an oscilloscope's AC setting, the measurement results will exhibit noticeable undershoot and baseline drift. Therefore, all HVA amplifiers provide true DC coupling and adjustable output offset control, even the 500 MHz models.
Extremely Low Input Noise
Low input noise is critical for achieving a good signal-to-noise ratio, particularly when amplifying small signals. All HVA amplifiers are optimized for the lowest input noise, achieving excellent values as low as 0.9 nV/√Hz.

Output impedance 50 Ω. Offset can be adjusted via a trim potentiometer. Output is short-circuit protected. Power is supplied through a 3-pin Lemo® socket. The device comes with a matching connector. Optional PS-15 power supply available.
