Contact Force Pressure Distribution and Maximum Pressure Measurement System Cobosafe-Scan

For many manufacturing processes, the future level of automation will continue to be an intermediate path between full automation and manual operation, which will emphasize occupational safety in Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC). The design of isolation barriers requires more space, thereby reducing the economic efficiency of such production solutions. However, in HRC without isolation barriers, collisions between humans and robots are inevitable. Therefore, the HRC industry imposes special requirements for collision prevention and detection. Torque monitoring and force limitation must achieve a level of protection similar to that of other barriers.

According to the ISO/TS 15066 standard (or as stipulated by the American National Standards Institute Robotics Industry Association RIA TR R15.806-2018), permissible limits for force and pressure must be adhered to ensure the safe operation of HRC workstations. The force-pressure measurement system CoboSafe is an easy-to-use instrument that verifies compliance with the required limit values by combining force-pressure measurement and its evaluation.

CoboSafe-Scan Pressure Measurement Kit

CoboSafe-Scan uses Fujifilm's pressure measurement film Prescale to record pressure distribution and maximum pressure. Prescale film reacts to pressure and records the pressure distribution through the degree of color change. The CoboSafe-Vision application captures and automatically analyzes images of the Prescale film using the CoboSafe-Scan scanner and calibration table. The electronic components are responsible for analyzing and storing the measured values. The storage capacity is up to 100 independent measurements. Transient and quasi-static values are displayed on the screen. Data can be transmitted wirelessly or via USB interface to the CoboSafe-Vision evaluation software. This makes device positioning very easy.

CoboSafe-Vision Evaluation Software

It visualizes the force curves and pressure images measured by the CoboSafe force-pressure measurement system. It can calculate and determine transient and quasi-static force and pressure values. Software-assisted protocol: Using the Windows-based evaluation software CoboSafe-Vision, the force-pressure results measured with CoboSafe devices can be easily evaluated, and detailed measurement reports including graphs can be generated. Pressure images can be evaluated using filters as well as 2D and 3D views. Additionally, separate logs and CSV file outputs are available.
