The DS345 Function Generator is a fully-featured 30 MHz synthesized function generator that utilizes an innovative Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) architecture. It can generate many standard waveforms with excellent frequency resolution (1 μHz) and offers a variety of modulation functions, including AM, FM, Burst, PM, and frequency sweep. It can also generate arbitrary waveforms at a fast update rate of 40 Msample/s.
The DS360 combines the performance of a low-distortion analog signal source with the precision of Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS). With total harmonic distortion (THD) below 0.001%, 25 ppm frequency accuracy, and a wide range of features including sweep and burst, the DS360 is an ideal source for audio applications.
Features and Outputs:
The DS345 can produce sine and square waves up to 30.2 MHz, as well as triangle and ramp waves up to 100 kHz. All functions have a frequency resolution of 1 μHz. In addition to standard waveforms, the unit also provides a broadband (10 MHz) white noise source.
Both the function output and TTL SYNC output are available via floating front-panel BNC connectors. Both outputs have a 50Ω output impedance and can be floated up to ±40 V relative to ground. The amplitude of all function outputs can be adjusted from 10 mVpp to 10 Vpp with 3-digit resolution, and can be displayed in Vp, Vpp, Vrms, or dBm. Additionally, standard TTL and ECL output levels can be selected.
Additional useful connectors are provided on the rear panel. The trigger input is used to trigger arbitrary waveforms, modulation modes, sweep, and burst, while a TTL trigger output is provided to allow external devices to synchronize with sweep and burst. The sweep output produces a 0 to 10 V ramp synchronized with the frequency sweep. The sweep marker output allows highlighting a specified portion of the frequency sweep on an oscilloscope.
A 10 MHz rear-panel input allows the DS345 to be synchronized with an external timebase. A 10 MHz rear-panel output allows multiple DS345 units to be phase-locked.
Stanford Research Systems (SRS) Function Generator DS345 Modulation:
The DS345 Function Generator offers a variety of modulation options. It includes an internal modulation generator that can modulate any standard waveform except noise. The modulation waveform can be sine, square, triangle, ramp, or arbitrary. Modulation rates from 1 mHz to 10 kHz can be selected.
The modulation generator can provide amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and phase modulation (PM). When using AM, a modulation depth of ±100% can be selected with 1% resolution. A negative modulation value corresponds to double-sideband suppressed-carrier (DSBSC) modulation. FM deviation can be selected with 1 μHz resolution, and phase modulation can be set between 0° and 7200° with 0.001° resolution.
