Polyurethane Sandwich Panels EN 14509 Certification

Step 1: Identify the EU harmonized standards. Polyurethane sandwich panels need to comply with the relevant harmonized standards. As polyurethane sandwich panels are a type of metal-faced insulated panel, the EU harmonized standard EN 14509 can be referenced.

Refer to the name of the EN 14509 harmonized standard:

Refer to the scope of the EN 14509 harmonized standard. This European standard specifies the requirements for factory-made, self-supporting double skin metal-faced insulating panels, intended for discontinuous use in the following applications:

a) Roofs and roof coverings

b) External walls and wall coverings

c) Walls (including partitions) and ceilings within the building envelope

Step 2: Determine the product certification system. The certification process differs depending on whether flame retardants are added.

System 1: If flame retardants are added to the product (fire testing is mandatory), use System 1 for the certification application. A notified body conducts type testing, factory inspection, and ongoing surveillance.

System 3: If no flame retardants are added to the product (fire testing is mandatory), a notified body conducts type testing to determine the product type.

Step 3: Proceed with the certification application according to the determined system. Send samples to an EU notified body for testing.

Step 4: Based on the test results, issue a test report and certificate.
