I. Overview
The modified fiber ball filtration system is a filtration technology researched and developed by our company. It is an efficient, high-precision, and oil-resistant filtration system, particularly suitable for the filtration treatment of oily wastewater.
Due to its compressibility and ability to form an ideal pore distribution, fiber ball filter media is an ideal material for removing suspended solids. It has broad application prospects in the filtration treatment process of oilfield wastewater. However, the strong oil affinity of the fiber ball surface makes it difficult to clean after adsorbing oil, hindering the widespread application of fiber ball filter media in oily wastewater treatment.
After years of research and development, our company has successfully solved the challenge of surface modification of fiber balls and introduced the modified fiber ball filtration system. When the modified fiber ball filter media comes into contact with oily wastewater, it first interacts with water molecules, forming a protective water film on the surface of the fiber material, which is easily washed away during backwashing. Therefore, the modified fiber ball filter media is more suitable for oily wastewater treatment. Mechanical stirring or air-water backwashing methods can be employed.
II. Technical Advantages
(I) Current Issues in Filtration Technology
In the filtration units of oilfield produced water treatment processes in China, walnut shell filters and dual-media filters are currently popular. The dual-media filter, which uses quartz sand and coal as filter media, has issues such as low filtration rates (8-12 m/h) and poor oil removal efficiency. Although walnut shell filters perform marginally better in oil removal, their ability to control particle size is poor. Due to their small particle size, light weight, and susceptibility to breakage and loss during backwashing, another significant issue is the tendency for hardening. Hard granular filter media often hardens due to surface sludge accumulation.
(II) Technical Advantages of the BGL Modified Fiber Ball Filtration System
1. This filtration system offers superior oil and suspended solids removal efficiency. Its oil removal efficiency is over 20% higher than that of walnut shell filters and significantly better than dual-media filters. According to the industry standards of the China National Petroleum Corporation, the BGL filtration system controls suspended solids particles 1-2 grades better than walnut shell and dual-media filters. Using the BGL-A type (gravity and hydraulic compression filtration layer), the effluent can meet the requirements of medium and high permeability layers. Using the BGL-B type (mechanical compression filtration layer), the effluent can meet the requirements of low permeability layers.
2. The filtration rate of the BGL filtration system is 2-3 times that of dual-media filters; the cycle water production rate of the BGL filtration system is twice that of walnut shell filters; the dirt holding capacity of the BGL filtration system is 2.9 times that of walnut shell filtration.
3. The BGL filtration system filter media does not leak, and the filtration layer does not harden.
