Silicone and Curing Agent Mixing
- Proportion Weighing: According to the weight ratio of silicone to curing agent (e.g., 100:3, specific ratio as per product instructions), accurately weigh using an electronic scale and pour into a container.
- Stir Evenly: Stir clockwise along the container wall to avoid excessive bubbles from vigorous stirring. Stir for 3-5 minutes to ensure the curing agent and silicone are fully blended (observe uniform liquid color with no streaks).
- Bubble Removal (Optional): If a vacuum machine is available, place the mixed silicone in a vacuum chamber and vacuum for 2-3 minutes until bubbles are completely expelled. Without equipment, let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow bubbles to naturally rise and burst.
Silicone Mold Pouring / Brushing
- Brushing Method (Suitable for Complex Textures):
Use a brush to dip into the silicone and evenly apply it to the prototype surface, focusing on covering凹凸 textures to ensure silicone fully fills gaps (first layer applied thinly to avoid trapping bubbles). After the first layer is semi-cured (about 30 minutes, feels non-sticky to touch), apply the second layer and lay a layer of fiberglass cloth (to enhance mold strength). Repeat for 2-3 layers, with a total recommended thickness of 3-5mm. - Pouring Method (Suitable for Simple Shapes):
Slowly pour the mixed silicone into the mold frame, starting from the edge of the prototype to avoid direct impact causing displacement or bubbles. The silicone should completely cover the prototype, with a thickness exceeding the highest point of the prototype by 1-2cm.
Curing and Demolding
- Curing Time: Let it sit at room temperature (around 25°C) for 4-8 hours, depending on the curing agent ratio and temperature (higher temperatures speed up curing; lower temperatures require extended time). After curing, the silicone should be elastic and show no indentation when pressed.
- Demolding: Gently peel off the mold frame and slowly lift the silicone mold from the edge of the prototype to avoid tearing due to forceful pulling (silicone is flexible and generally demolds smoothly). After demolding, check if the internal texture of the mold is clear. If there are bubbles, repair before use.
