Basic Knowledge and Uses of Pad Printing Pads
Pad printing pads are the core components of the pad printing process, primarily used to pick up ink from an engraved plate and transfer it to irregular surfaces (such as toys, electronic products, plastic products, etc.). Liquid pad printing ink is typically composed of a silicone base (Component A) and a curing agent (Component B) . After mixing and curing, it forms an elastic pad whose hardness, elasticity, and adhesion can be adjusted through formulation.
1. Mold Preparation and Treatment
Clean the mold: Wipe the inner wall of the mold with alcohol or a cleaning agent to remove dust and grease, ensuring a smooth surface.
Apply release agent: Evenly apply a thin layer of release agent (such as Vaseline) inside the mold to facilitate demolding after curing and prevent the pad from sticking to the mold.
2. Ink Ratio and Mixing
Accurate measurement: Based on the mold capacity, measure the silicone (Component A) and curing agent (Component B) according to the instructions. For example, if the ratio of silicone to curing agent is 10:1, then 100g of silicone requires 10g of curing agent. Deviation from the ratio can affect the hardness and curing effect of the pad.
Thorough mixing: Pour the curing agent into the silicone and stir slowly in the same direction for 3-5 minutes with a stirring rod until the mixture is uniform in color, without lumps or stratification.
