Usage Instructions
Preparation: Clean the surface of the object to be molded, ensuring it is free from oil, dust, and other impurities to guarantee good adhesion between the silicone and the object's surface.
Mixing Components: Depending on the type of liquid mold silicone, mix Component A (silicone) and Component B (curing agent) in the specified ratio. Typically, addition-cure silicone has a 1:1 ratio, while condensation-cure silicone has a ratio of 100:2-3. Use a stirring tool to mix thoroughly, ensuring complete integration of both components.
Vacuum Degassing: After thoroughly mixing the silicone and curing agent, perform vacuum degassing to remove air introduced during mixing. The vacuum time should not be too long; normally, do not exceed ten minutes to avoid degrading the silicone's performance due to excessive degassing.
Brushing or Pouring: Apply the degassed silicone onto the object by brushing or pouring. If brushing, ensure an even coat, avoiding uneven thickness or missed spots. For larger or more complex molds, after brushing one layer of silicone, apply a layer of gauze fiber cloth to enhance the silicone's strength and tensile properties. Then brush another layer of silicone and apply another layer of gauze fiber cloth, repeating this process about twice.
Making the Outer Mold: To enhance the mold's stability and durability, an outer mold is usually necessary. A common method is to surround the mold with plastic or wooden boards and then pour materials like plaster or resin. Alternatively, a resin brushing method can be used: brush a layer of resin, apply a layer of fiberglass cloth, then brush and apply again, repeating two to three layers to complete the outer mold.
Curing and Molding: After completing the above steps, allow the silicone to cure naturally at room temperature or apply heat if needed. The curing time varies based on the type of silicone, ambient temperature, humidity, and other factors, generally ranging from a few hours to several dozen hours. Once the silicone is fully cured, the desired mold is obtained.
