Usage Method of RTV2 Liquid Mold Silicone

1. Preparation Before Operation
Confirm the usage scenario and silicone type: RTV2 liquid mold silicone comes in various models, each suitable for different needs, such as high temperature resistance or strong flexibility. Before use, determine whether the selected RTV2 liquid mold silicone is appropriate for the specific scenario based on mold-making requirements. For example, if making food-grade molds, it is essential to choose a silicone model that meets food-grade safety standards.
Prepare tools and materials: Clean containers (such as plastic cups or stainless steel bowls), stirring rods, electronic scales, release agents (if the silicone may adhere to the prototype, apply a release agent evenly on the prototype surface in advance, such as Vaseline or specialized release agents), and the prototype object (ensure the prototype surface is clean, dry, and free of oil and dust).

2. Mixing Ratio
Check the product instructions: Carefully read the product manual of the RTV2 liquid mold silicone being used to clarify the mixing ratio of components A and B. Generally, the mixing ratio of components A and B is 1:1 or 2:1, but this may vary depending on the brand and model.
Accurate weighing: Use an electronic scale to accurately weigh components A and B separately. For example, if the mixing ratio is 1:1 and the plan is to make a 100-gram silicone mold, then weigh 50 grams of component A and 50 grams of component B. Pour both components A and B into the same clean container.

3. Thorough Mixing
Begin stirring: Use a stirring rod to slowly and evenly mix the combined silicone of components A and B. Ensure that the silicone at the bottom and sides of the container is fully mixed during the stirring process. Maintain a consistent stirring direction to avoid generating excessive bubbles. The stirring time is typically 3-5 minutes.
Check the mixing state: Observe the silicone mixture until its color is completely uniform, with no noticeable color differences or layering, indicating that the silicone is thoroughly mixed.
