Introduction to Columnar Activated Carbon:
Columnar activated carbon is made from coal, coconut shell, and wood chips as raw materials. It is widely used in nitrogen purification equipment and air separation nitrogen production equipment, and is particularly suitable for post-stage purification and oil absorption in pressure swing adsorption nitrogen production. It appears as black cylindrical granules.
Columnar activated carbon has a very high effective adsorption rate in the field of air purification, with a CTC adsorption rate of over 90%. It also has a good adsorption effect on volatile organic compounds in water, achieving a removal rate of 25% to 65% for various volatile organic compounds in water. Comparing the adsorption patterns of different molecular weight organic compounds, it can be seen that for volatile organic compounds, the larger the molecular weight, the higher their removal rate. This is similar to the adsorption patterns of phenol and cationic嫩黄, meaning that for small-molecule organic compounds in water, the larger the molecular weight, the more easily they are adsorbed by activated carbon.
Activated carbon has a good removal effect on extractable organic compounds with a molecular weight below 480, but a low removal efficiency for large-molecule organic compounds. This is mainly due to the steric hindrance effect of the micropore structure of activated carbon; overly large organic molecules cannot enter the pores of activated carbon and can only be adsorbed on its surface.
