Stainless Iron Passivation Solution

Overview of Stainless Iron Passivation: Stainless iron passivation solution is also known as martensitic stainless steel passivation solution. Many may not be aware that stainless steel materials are categorized differently. For example, the 200 and 300 series stainless steel materials are referred to as austenitic stainless steel, while the 400 series materials are known as martensitic stainless steel, commonly called stainless iron. Due to its higher carbon content, stainless iron has relatively lower rust resistance compared to the austenitic series stainless steel. Therefore, passivation treatment is essential to enhance the rust resistance of the workpiece. So, how should stainless iron be passivated? Introduction to Stainless Iron Passivation Solution: The stainless iron passivation solution is specifically designed for SUS400 series ferritic and martensitic stainless steel to improve corrosion resistance. It is a new product in the category of general-purpose original color passivation for martensitic materials.

This product uses environmentally friendly organic acids as the main oxidizer, combined with anode-adsorbing intermediate additives, superior corrosion inhibitors, and a small amount of high-molecular passivation accelerators. It contains no acid etching components and is odorless. Passivation with this solution effectively ensures that the original color of the workpiece is not compromised during the process, dimensions remain unchanged, and the salt spray resistance of the stainless steel workpiece is significantly improved. It is suitable for all types of nickel-free stainless iron materials in the 400 series, such as 410, 420, 430, 1Cr13, 2Cr13, and 3Cr13, to enhance their corrosion resistance. After treatment, the workpiece retains its original color, and salt spray resistance can be improved by 6 to 100 times, achieving up to 780 hours in neutral salt spray testing without rust. Since passivation forms a dense, durable passivation film on the workpiece surface, it is widely used for screws, fasteners, medical instruments, blades, motor shafts, etc.

3. Improves the salt spray and rust resistance of stainless iron materials.

4. The passivation solution contains no harmful substances, complies with environmental standards such as ROHS and REACH, and has passed SGS and FDA certifications.

5. Passes the specified blue dot test with no blue dot appearing within 35 seconds.

Precautions for Stainless Iron Passivation Solution:

1. Containers for passivation can generally be plastic boxes, plastic tanks, or stainless steel tanks.

2. Passivation temperature: soak at 70°C for 30 minutes; stable temperature: soak at 60°C for 15 minutes.

3. Suitable for all 400 series martensitic stainless steel.

4. Operators must wear labor protection gear to avoid skin contact with the solution.

5. Wastewater treatment: neutralize with alkaline lime water or sodium hydroxide, and discharge only when the pH reaches 7, ensuring no environmental impact.

Storage and Packaging:

During storage and handling, the temperature should not exceed 75°C. For long-term storage, the temperature should not exceed 45°C. The passivation solution is non-flammable, non-explosive, corrosive, and environmentally friendly.

Packaged in 25KG drums, transported as general chemicals.
