Photoinitiator 509

Product Application: Photoinitiator 509 has been tested for use in printing inks and prepreg systems on surfaces such as wood, metal, plastic, paper, and optical fibers.

In white paints, colored paints, and inks containing titanium dioxide or other pigments with high hiding power, a small addition of 509 can provide coatings with excellent curing effects and UV yellowing resistance. Due to its excellent absorption properties, 509 can be applied in thick film systems.

Photoinitiator 509 can be used in combination with other photoinitiators, such as Photoinitiator 504 or Photoinitiator 532. The combination of Photoinitiator 509 and Photoinitiator 532 is particularly suitable for curing polyester/styrene resin systems, such as those used in glass fiber reinforced materials. Due to its absorption in the long-wave range, Photoinitiator 509 can be used in conjunction with UV absorbers, making it suitable for UV-curable coatings that require weather resistance.

Photoinitiator 509 Recommended Dosage:

Transparent acrylic and unsaturated polyester/styrene coatings: 0.1-0.2% Photoinitiator 509 + 1-2% Photoinitiator 504

White acrylic and unsaturated polyester/styrene coatings: 0.5-1% Photoinitiator 509 + 1-2% Photoinitiator 504

Colored acrylic formulations: 0.5-1% Photoinitiator 509 + 1-2% Photoinitiator 504

White screen printing inks: 0.5-1.5% Photoinitiator 509 + 1-2% Photoinitiator 504

Glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester/styrene prepreg: 0.1-0.2% Photoinitiator 509
