Methods for Cleaning Molds
To better ensure the quality of plastic mold processed products and extend the service life of plastic molds, it is essential to clean any plastic mold after each use.
The cleaning process for molds generally involves five steps: cooling and removal, cleaning, spraying rust inhibitor, air drying, and storage:
Cooling and Removal: After the injection molding process is completed, wait for the mold to cool down before removing it from the injection molding machine to facilitate the next step of cleaning.
Cleaning: Use mold cleaning agents to clean the mold, ensuring that no processing residues or dust remain on the mold surface.
Spraying Rust Inhibitor: Apply a rust inhibitor to the mold surface to prevent rust formation, which could further affect the quality of mold processing.
Air Drying: Place the mold sprayed with rust inhibitor in a ventilated area to air dry, preventing dust in the air from adhering to the surface, which could cause unevenness and affect the quality of its use.
Storage: After the rust inhibitor has air-dried, store the mold to better maintain it. When storing molds, it is important to keep them separate from mold processing equipment such as injection molding machines. This ensures that the mold can be used directly in the next processing cycle without requiring further cleaning, avoiding wastage of mold cleaning agents.
