What is the injection pressure of an injection mold?
Pressure exists to overcome the resistance during the flow of the melt. Conversely, the resistance present during the flow counteracts the machine's pressure to ensure the filling process proceeds smoothly.
During the injection process, the pressure at the nozzle of the injection machine is high, overcoming the flow resistance throughout the entire process of the melt. Subsequently, the pressure gradually decreases along the flow length to the break point at the front of the melt. With good venting inside the cavity, the pressure at the front of the melt is atmospheric pressure.
Factors affecting the filling pressure of the melt can be summarized into three aspects: material factors, such as the type of plastic, viscosity, etc.; structural elements like the type, number, and location of the gating system, the shape of the mold cavity, and the thickness of the product; and molding process factors.
