What is the injection time for injection molds?
The injection time referred to here is the time required for the plastic melt to fill the cavity, excluding mold opening, closing, and other times. A short injection time has a small impact on the molding cycle, but adjusting the injection time plays a significant role in controlling the pressure at the gate, runner, and cavity. Proper injection time helps achieve ideal melt filling, which is crucial for improving product surface quality and reducing dimensional tolerances.
Injection time is much shorter than cooling time, approximately 1/10 to 1/15 of the cooling time, and can be used as a basis for predicting the overall molding time of plastic parts. When analyzing mold flow, the injection time in the analysis results will only match the injection time set in the process conditions if the melt completely fills the cavity through screw rotation. If screw decompression conversion occurs before the mold cavity is fully filled, the analysis result will be greater than the set process condition.
