Fiberglass chopped strand mat

Chopped Strand Mat:

I. Definition: Glass fiber chopped strand mat (abbreviated as chopped mat) is a non-woven fabric product made from alkali-free or medium-alkali glass fibers. The glass fibers are chopped to a length of 50 mm, randomly and uniformly distributed, and bonded with polyester powder or polyester emulsion binder.

II. Characteristics:

1. Uniform unit area weight, free from stains, impurities, and other defects.
2. Moderate hardness with good flexibility.
3. Easy to fully impregnate, resulting in fewer bubbles in the product and excellent processability.
4. Excellent mold-filling and mold-covering properties, suitable for molding complex-shaped products.
5. Good mechanical and chemical properties.

III. Product Packaging, Storage, and Transportation

Chopped mats should be wound onto paper tubes with an inner diameter of 76 mm. Each roll is wrapped in a polyethylene plastic bag and placed in a cardboard box. For chopped mats with a width of 1040 mm, the outer box dimensions are: length 28 cm × width 28 cm × height 1070 mm. Products can be stored vertically or horizontally. For container transportation, they can be shipped loosely or on pallets. Pallet dimensions are: length 112 cm × width 112 cm × height 10 cm.

Chopped mats should be stored indoors in a dry, cool, moisture-proof, and rain-protected environment. The recommended temperature range is 15°C to 35°C, and humidity should be maintained between 35% and 65%. If not in use, do not open the packaging or ensure the packaging is tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption.

IV. Applications:

Chopped strand mats are primarily used in hand lay-up molding, compression molding, centrifugal casting, mechanical molding, and other fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) winding processes. They are widely applied in automotive parts, sanitary ware, chemical corrosion-resistant pipelines, cooling towers, storage tanks, ships, building components, furniture, and various other FRP products.
