Belt Conveyor Buffer Bed Easy Maintenance and Replacement of Buffer Strips

The main function of the belt conveyor buffer bed is to reduce the impact of falling gangue or coal blocks on the conveyor belt and to support and protect the operating conveyor belt. Therefore, it is mainly installed at transfer points, unloading points, and under coal chutes of belt conveyors.

In coal mines, with heavy-load and high-intensity usage, traditional buffer beds of belt conveyors are often damaged and difficult to repair, which affects normal production. To ensure the safety and continuity of belt conveyor operation, installing buffer bed devices on traditional mining conveyors is of great significance.

For convenient material transfer during the transportation process, a belt conveyor line may have multiple drop points, especially during coal bunker unloading or high-drop transfers. Larger coal blocks may damage the belt and buffer bed. Currently, traditional belt conveyor buffer beds consist of buffer strips and support frames. More advanced heavy-duty buffer beds have reinforced support frames, fundamentally improving belt protection.

Buffer strips on the conveyor buffer bed are inherently wear-prone and require replacement. Most buffer bed designs on the market are fixed and welded, except for some that allow angle adjustment of the belt. Replacing buffer strips is laborious and may even require loosening the belt tension. There is no design that allows direct and quick replacement. For easier replacement, the buffer bed has been redesigned with a split-type structure. Simply loosening the four pin shafts on both sides allows the buffer strips to be laid flat, and the fixed bolts on the buffer strips can be loosened for easy and quick removal and replacement.

Rubber springs are added to the force-bearing points of the belt conveyor buffer bed to enhance its ability to absorb the impact energy of falling materials. Through calculations of the impact force from materials of different belt widths, capacities, and speeds, as well as pressure tests on rubber springs, their stiffness and deformation are measured. Proper matching effectively mitigates the damage caused by impact forces on the conveyor belt and buffer bed during material drop.
