Dichloromethane

The dichloromethane produced and sold by our company is a national standard premium grade product with a purity of 99.95%. Its CAS registry number is 75-09-2, with melting and boiling points of -97°C and 39.75°C respectively, a flash point of -14.1°C, and a density of 1.325 g/cm³. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in ethanol and organic solvents.

Dichloromethane is an organic compound, appearing as a colorless transparent liquid with an ether-like pungent odor. Its molecular formula is CH₂Cl₂. Under normal usage conditions, it is a non-flammable, low-boiling-point solvent. Its vapor forms a weakly combustible gas mixture only when present in high concentrations in high-temperature air. It is often used as a substitute for flammable petroleum ether.

Dichloromethane has low toxicity, and recovery from poisoning is relatively quick. It is irritating to the skin and mucous membranes. Its vapor has strong anesthetic properties; inhalation of large amounts can cause acute poisoning, resulting in symptoms such as nasal pain, headache, and vomiting. Chronic poisoning may lead to blurred vision, fatigue, loss of appetite, impaired hematopoietic function, and reduced red blood cell count. Liquid dichloromethane can cause dermatitis upon skin contact.

Dichloromethane is a flammable liquid. If accidentally ignited, water should be sprayed to cool containers exposed to the fire, and water spray should be used to wash spilled material away from exposed areas. If this material catches fire or is involved in a fire: do not attempt to extinguish the fire unless the spill can be contained. If the fire is uncontrollable or containers are exposed to flames, evacuate the area within a 2500-foot radius and use large quantities of water to cool the containers until the fire is extinguished. Do not apply water directly to the spilled substance, as splashing may occur.

Dichloromethane is a hazardous chemical and must be handled in strict accordance with operational regulations. First, to avoid generating mists, appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn, and measures should be taken to prevent released vapors and mists from entering the workplace air. Operations should be conducted in well-ventilated, designated areas using the minimum necessary quantity. It must be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, and kept separate from heat sources, flames, and incompatible materials such as strong oxidizers, strong acids, and nitric acid.
